What is HDMI? Why is it Important?
These days, the battle is over between HDMI and DVI. It doesn’t matter which one you choose, as both are very useful for different uses. However, it is generally better to go with HDMI than DVI, as DVI is still pretty much obsolete. Here are some reasons to why DVI is outdated.

With HDMI, your video is transmitted at the same time as it is being displayed on your TV. So while you are watching your favorite program, you are receiving the signal at the exact time it is being displayed on your TV. This can sometimes be bothersome to some viewers.
Another thing to keep in mind is that because HDMI carries more channels, there is a potential loss of video resolution when the signal does not travel properly. The problem is that the signals do not always travel in an ideal manner, resulting in some loss of clarity and video resolution. However, there are plenty of HDMI monitors on the market that eliminate this issue.
The last thing to mention about HDMI is its high-speed connection. Compared to DVI, HDMI provides more transfer speed for video and audio. This means you’ll be able to watch your movies and videos in much faster speeds. There’s really no comparison between the two when it comes to transferring media from one device to another. Other advantages include the fact that HDMI cables are much thinner than any other cables currently on the market, making them perfect for home usage.
These are just some of the benefits of using HDMI. Like with any technology, there are plenty of cons associated with it as well. For example, HDCP, or High Definition Digital Copy Protection can make your video files safer to view on certain computer systems. Also, the longer the HDMI cable is used, the weaker its connection. These two factors, however, can be overcome by taking care of the connectors and cables you use with your HDMI device.
If you have a modern television, then chances are that HDMI is included in the HDMI cable that you have purchased. In order to use HDMI with your television, you need an HDMI connector that is of the correct size and will support the resolutions you have set up on your screen. You should also make sure your HDMI device will support HDMI interface. Without this compatibility, your video will be unplayable on most televisions because they do not support the HDMI specification. Fortunately, all major brands have HDMI ports available on their latest televisions and other devices.
If you’re unfamiliar with HDMI, you should take some time to research it online. While it does have some advantages over DVI, it still has some disadvantages.
